As we continue to connect and support one another through limited enrollment in-studio classes and virtual yoga classes, studio owner Laura Tyree shares some enriching thoughts about the yoga practice. There are so many layers and Laura’s inspirational thoughts take us deeper into the amazing world of yoga. We hope that you will continue to connect with us by joining us in-studio for yoga classes or from the comfort of your home through our virtual yoga classes. Namaste!

Receptivity

One of my favorite modules in the yoga teacher training program is Back Bends. Sometimes I see a concept that backbends are about promoting more power in the body.  And while there is a powerful feeling in the act of a back bend, it is the receptivity in the front body that carries the real strength, that carries the real jewel.

If that receptivity is not recognized, or accepted, either consciously or subconsciously, the energy is then transferred to the third chakra and can add to rigidity instead of receptivity. Instead, invite the heart to receive not only what the pose offers, but what life is also offering in the moment.

Suppleness of attitude, ease of body, depth of Self are best cultivated from this open heart space. From this Sukham. From an open heart of Grace.
Practice Well.

Meditation

I’m fascinated by the organic nature of the body when I sit and meditate.

I can feel the quiet pull of gravity, anchoring my senses to the ground, to the planet. And the subtle and inevitable pull upwards from that deep, and eternal desire to rise up and move forward.

It is like the rocking of the ocean. It is a moving state of Grace as the whole Universe breathes me in…and out.
So sit, and be breathed.
Peace is available.
If you seek it.

Yoga Classes – In Studio or From Home

Starting today, we are offering in-studio yoga classes with limited enrollment from both yoga studios in downtown Fort Walton Beach. Both yoga studios, Dragonfly Yoga Studies and Hot Yoga Om, will limit in-studio classes to only 10 students and they must bring their own props. The yoga classes will not involve contact of any kind, including adjustments in postures. You must bring your own mat, blocks and blankets. No studio props will be used. If you are experiencing fever, malaise, cough, shortness of breath, or have been exposed to others whom are COVID+ or have symptoms, we ask you please refrain from attending.

Additional private yoga classes may soon be available for small groups. We are excited to have you back!
